MR061ME Belt Drive Apparatus Mechanical Trainer Didactic Equipment
Description
MR061ME Belt Drive Apparatus Mechanical Trainer Didactic Equipment

1.1 Overview
Belt drives are machine elements that are classified as traction mechanisms in the field of transmission or conversion elements. They transmit torque and speed between guide members such as wheels or pulleys. The motion is transmitted by traction mechanisms that can only absorb pulling forces. Toothed belts and chains provide positive transmission of motion.
Belt friction is caused by tangential static friction at the contact points of the belt with the pulley. Friction formulas can be used to calculate the friction of cables and belts.
The MR061ME belt drive allows for the investigation of belt drives and belt friction on an experiment-by-experiment basis. The core of the experimental device is a cast iron pulley with grooves for V-belts and flat belts on its circumference. The pulley is mounted on ball bearings and is powered by a crank. Its flywheel mass facilitates uniform rotation of the pulley. The belt rubs against the pulley with a wrap angle of 30° to 180°. The wrap angle can be adjusted in 15° increments.
Two spring dynamometers detect the tension at the individual belt ends. This makes it possible to precisely adjust the belt tension using a threaded spindle.
